Top 5 Essential Oils I Use While Pregnant or Breastfeeding
Frankincense – Ok these lists are really hard to boil down to just 5 since I use so many for different things in everyday life. But Frankincense is also on my list for pre-pregnancy me, but I really do use this everyday on my face and it is uplifting in so many ways as an ethereal scent. I sometimes use Sacred Frankincense too. Frankincense is known to reduce stretch marks. It’s a slightly different aroma. Side note - Tyler’s (my husband’s) dad gave us frankincense nuggets that we burn using activated charcoal underneath it. We even gave this ‘Gift of Kings’ to our wedding guests.
Orange – Energy while pregnant? Or with a newborn??! Yeah, that rarely exists… but orange does help! Let’s just say it’s invigorating and it makes me happy. It also relieves nausea for me. Citrus oils are a go to when birthing mothers need a refresher and lift to their spirits, taking their mind to a fresh place.
Geranium – I didn’t care for this scent too much before I was pregnant but wow, how I Love it now. It makes me feel very feminine and relaxed. It is safe on babies so I don’t mind rubbing off on Damon :)
Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia) – This is wonderful for skin blemishes and cuts on the skin while healing. It restores the skin back to normal faster, I think! I even like it’s nice, bright scent. It’s great for nails and hair too. A little in shampoo is very cleansing.
Lavender – Sometimes in early pregnancy, lavender isn’t suggested, but I really listened to my body and used it when I needed it. And where – which was mostly in the bath at night. I also like to diffuse it. I’ve tried quite a few lavender oils brands and I love the dense purity of Young Living and the earthier scent. Now I can’t use anything but YL Lavender. Along with my calming voice when I apply lavender to Damon, he gets heavy eyes and a calm manner.
