Top 5 Essential Oils I Use with My One Year Old

So yeah, I’ve broken out the Children’s Tylenol a couple times when Damon has had a fever! But I really like my oils, and I use them as preventative remedies for my family. So jumping straight to it - here are the Top 5 essential oils that I have used with Damon since he was born.

Gentle Baby – So if this didn’t say Gentle Baby on the label, I think everyone would know what it was because it is a gentle baby in a bottle. It smells, delicious, just like your baby! I use this on Damon’s tummy for ease of constipation or diarrhea. I also use it on his crown of his head when he’s overwhelmed or restless.

Thieves – This can be strong with the cinnamon, so I sometimes dilute with coconut oil, or I just use the Thieves spray. I mostly put this on the bottom of Damon’s feet. It’s such a great immune booster and preventative from him getting sick. When I know he’s around children with runny noses or toys that aren’t his, I use Thieves to give them a quick clean. Thieves hand purifier is also always in my outside purse pocket for easy access! Damon loves to wash his hands with the purifier or with foaming thieves soap too now after getting used to it.

R.C. – Damon has had a full-on cold twice before, and it is heartbreaking! His first one was at 6 months and as a first-time mom, ugh! Yep, I went into ‘I’ll do anything’ mode. R.C. was something I used consistently throughout the 6 or 7 days of him feeling terrible. It provided him some relief and as he got better I could see how much he liked it. I put it on his chest and throat and back. It’s also my go-to as soon as he feels a little stuffy. I also have to sneak in Eucalyptus oil as I diffuse that when he’s stuffy. But really Thieves takes care of him not getting too runny of a nose.

Lavender – This really is the all-time goody! Just soothing and has an entirely different aroma than Gentle Baby. Lavender Essential Oil is excellent in his bath, mixed with lotion for massage, in the diffuser, or directly on him wherever! Lavender is helpful for bruises too. I’ve used it for bumps on his head, of which I’m sure there will be more of as he gets more adventurous.

Copaiba – This one I have to swear by. Damon actually reaches for it when his gums and teeth are hurting. Damon ‘tells’ me that he needs it and feels the relief within 5 minutes, bringing an end to the whining. I especially like that I don’t have to use a numbing cream. I’ve tried it on my own teeth before I gave it to him and it gives a slight tingling on the gums that relieves any throbbing. I’ve used it for some muscle pains myself, mainly when I don’t use Basil because of pregnancy or breastfeeding.
