Step 1: First Prenatal Visit

Our first meeting takes place ideally between 12 and 36 weeks of pregnancy and is for us to get to know each other. Your birth experience is a very intimate one and it is important for you to be completely comfortable with your support team. We will discuss your wishes for your birth, expectations, the roles of partners, and we will start putting together your birth plan. For an example of what one looks like, click here. If you decide to you want to honor me with being your doula, we will complete agreement and confidentiality forms and a 50% deposit is due.

Step 2: Second Prenatal Visit

Ideally between weeks 32-38 of pregnancy, I will come to meet you again for our second visit where we will finalize your birth plan. We will also discuss comfort measures, what we will do if the unexpected happens, and answer any of your questions about the birth process. We will also complete your Postpartum Plan form and discuss the basics of breastfeeding. I am also always available for you to call whenever you have any questions or want to discuss any part of your birth plan. I am on call for you 24/7 starting at 38 weeks.

Step 3: The Big Day

The moment your baby tells you ‘it’s time’ is when I spring into action! During this time I will be there to support you and bring your little one into the world. I will be your advocate, helping ensure your birth experience is everything you want it be. You will have my continuous support from when you need me until after baby is born (about 1-2 hours after birth) and you’re settling in as a family.

Step 4: First Postpartum Visit

Depending on when you’d like, but usually five to seven days after your birth, I come to see how well mom and baby are doing. We go over how baby is feeding, mom’s needs and feelings, and we do a complete review of your amazing birth from start to finish.

I can be there as a familiar and resourceful support to help you with any needs that have arisen. Each visit is a minimum of 2 hours and is $55 per hour.
