Are you thinking about encapsulating your placenta or consuming it in some other form? Here is a great video and transcript based on research and studies for what placenta can do for humans.

I had my placenta encapsulated by my midwife. She steamed and dehydrated it and put it in capsules. I can’t say that it helped with any of the issues that people say it may help with such as; postpartum mood and anxiety disorder, lactation, and energy. I can say that it didn’t hurt and that I had an overall positive experience in the postpartum period while taking my placenta. The very few studies that have been done show evidence that consuming placenta does not help with those issues. Anecdotal evidence suggests the contrary where many benefits are received. I look forward to more studies coming out in the future because of the recent popularity of this practice.
